The Market District in Shimagakure was perhaps one of the busiest and most diverse areas of the village in its entirety. It was one of Ryutetsu’s favourite places in the village. He enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the crowds moving through, haggling with vendors. It was a nice contrast to the serenity which was his home so he would make sure to visit the Market District often. Since he was still rather new to his current position, most people weren’t accustomed to their new Umikage as such. He would receive the odd bow as he walked, which he would acknowledge with a nod and a smile. He always made sure to carry some coin on him in case there was a curio or delicacy that tickled his fancy, and today was no exception. His favourite bakery was selling fresh desserts of all varieties. Of course he couldn’t help himself so he stepped inside for a moment to pick up a couple treats for the walk. The baker bowed as he entered and the two men spoke for a few minutes before Ryutetsu decided on a small cherry pie that was the size of his hand and a rich, chocolate brownie. Thanking the man, the Umikage would leave the shop and continue on his way.
One part of the Market District was always louder than the rest, and not because of anyone being particularly boisterous. The tradesmen’s area of the Market District was always loud due to the fact that their work involved a great deal of noise. Carpenters sawing and cutting wood to make the different parts of whatever it was they were building. Metalworkers with their forges and hammering bright red metal over anvils. The shouting of men back and forth so that they could hear each other over the din of their work. Ryutetsu was happy to see that the village had such a wide range of talent. It reminded him that he would need to order some new pieces for his home, as there was some changes he would like to make eventually. He would continue his walk, leaving the Market District to make his way towards His second-favourite place in the village.
The Yamanaka Park and Conservatory was a lush, public space located to the south of the Umikage’s complex. The Yamanaka clan’s enclave was located a little further South from the garden. The park itself was a fairly decent size, taking up 3 square acres. It had every species of plant that was native to Sea Country, and a large number of plants that came from other parts of the world. There were also several ponds and water features which were incorporated into a large hydroponics system that maintained the entire garden. It was the jewel of the village, and Ryutetsu took enormous pride in how well it was cared for.
What couldn’t normally grow in Sea Country’s Climate were housed in the Yamanaka Clan’s Conservatory. The building itself was a rather special design; It was not a traditional greenhouse; It was designed to have multiple zones where plants that required different climates could thrive. This was especially helpful for cultivating medicinal herbs that were not native to Sea Country, as it increased the efficacy of Shimagakure’s medical system. Unlike the Park itself, the Conservatory was a private facility that most did not have access to. This was not a problem for Ryutetsu, being the Umikage, but he was not looking to check in on the Yamanaka clan at this time. He was simply here to enjoy the park and interact with those that he encountered.

Secretly, Kainé had hated her job.
Well, not really, but in moments like these she wished she did. Being both the secretary and the bodyguard of the Umikage would normally be the greatest honor that anyone could have, but over the years that Kainé had come to know Ryutestu, she had learned all of his positives and all of his negatives. Sadly, that just made it so much worse when he would do some things like he was doing.
Kainé had walked into the Umikage's complex that morning empty handed and task free, though in the past 3 hours she has gotten through a stack of papers about half a meter tall. Like described earlier, her job was a blessing but most of the time was an incredible curse. That was only the beginning though, as people came in and out looking for the Umikage but only met their secretary who had to keep telling them that he's "Out right now." Eventually, her annoyance became anger, and hell hath no fury like a woman's scorn. Through word of mouth it didn't take long for her to learn that he had been around the Market District too long ago. And so she went, though unbeknown to her, he had left the Market District some time ago.
Which left our heroine wandering the streets of Shimagakure. She was too busy and obviously frantic to stop and smell the roses, or in this case, the exotic smells of raw fish and freshly cooked seafood that invaded your senses whenever you took a breath. Sure there were other things being sold, but the various scents happened to over power anything else. Luckily for her, someone had tipped her off about the Umikage making his way towards the Yamanaka conservatory, which happened to be within walking distance. Somewhat.
It didn't take long for her to find him and semi-quietly inserted herself near him, though someone of his skill must have noticed her by then.
"It must be nice, getting to just up and leave whenever you feel and get to have nice long strolls in the park. If I were able to get my nose out of the mountains of paper back in the complex, maybe I'd be able to smell the roses, eh?" There was an obvious tone of passive aggressiveness in her voice.

Ryutetsu wasn’t so completely absorbed with his walk through the gardens that he failed to notice his body guard making her way towards him. Despite Kainé Renminbi being able to blend in with any environment, Ryutetsu could pick her out with ease. That’s what happens when you are a long-time friend and ally of the Umikage. Someone that he trusted with his life. It had been quite some time that she had been placed on his team, back when he had been a Jounin. They had almost immediately became friends, and the longer they had spent watching out for each other, the more the friendship blossomed. She hadn’t really changed in terms of personality or temperament since then, which suited Ryutetsu just fine. Her skills had grown in that timeframe though, which was important. She was someone that fought primarily with weapons and close-range attacks. That suited Ryutetsu just fine, as he was able to work from any range, so he could provide long-range support or fight back to back with her with equal efficacy.
Ryutetsu could tell right away that Kainé was not impressed with him. "It must be nice, getting to just up and leave whenever you feel and get to have nice long strolls in the park. If I were able to get my nose out of the mountains of paper back in the complex, maybe I'd be able to smell the roses, eh?" Her tone spoke volumes, how annoyed she was at her esteemed leader and charge, which caused Ryutetsu to smile softly. “Kainé.” He would say, turning to face his friend. “It is rather nice to enjoy a nice walk every now and then.” With a hint of amusement in his eyes, he would continue speaking. “As my advisor and bodyguard though, your primary duty is not my paperwork, but my protection. When I go out to ‘smell the roses’ so to speak, I expect for you to be either at my heel, or by my side. Are we clear?” There was a gentle rebuke in his statement, for while Ryutetsu was relatively new to his position, he would still use his new authority to ensure that his wishes were known. His friend needed to get out more in his opinion; Ryutetsu had always meant to acquire some extra help with the day to day affairs by assigning some of the more routine work to the rest of the council, since it was what they were there for anyways.
He would wait a moment to see if Kainé would say anything in response to his comment before moving on. “Is everything else alright?” He would ask her.

Kainé let out a sigh, the frustration escaping from her in that moment. It was in moments like these why she cherished her friendship with Ryutetsu. He was like the water to her fire so to speak, the only thing that could really calm her done in these rage-filled moments, which happened often.
"Yes Umikage, sir." She sent a smile his way as she continued to follow behind him. "But next time you should actually inform me of when you're going to leave so I know where to go. You have no idea the trouble I had to go through just to even get the idea that you were here." Kainé stopped talking so that she could take the scenery in. Flowers were never really her thing, but she could see why people would be into them somewhat; they were pretty to look at but besides that they don't really do anything for Kainé. Technically, she wasn't allowed to be here, but with the Umikage being here she had a special situation.
Surprisingly, the place wasn't completely empty. Every 30 or so feet there seemed to be a member of the Yamanaka who was either enjoying their time or looking at the flowers. There were also mixes of other people thrown in, just that it wasn't as populated as most public places were. Kainé had chalked up the absence of people to the time of day and thought nothing more of it. There was one thing that had caught her eye, however. There was a couple, or at least she assumed they were, that were walking, laughing, and overall having a good time. They looked to be no older than 18 or 19, roughly Kaine's age. A part of her cheered them on while the rest was wallowing in jealousy.
"I guess if you have the option, this wouldn't be that bad of a dating spot. What do you think, Ryu?" She didn't mean anything by it, just trying to make conversation.

His friend let out a sigh; he could see some of her pent up frustration evaporate, which was definitely a good sign. "Yes Umikage, sir." She said to him, following the comment with a smile. He chuckled and returned the smile before continuing to move through the gardens, with her a feet or two behind him. She did have one other thing to say as they kept going. "But next time you should actually inform me of when you're going to leave so I know where to go. You have no idea the trouble I had to go through just to even get the idea that you were here." She wasn’t wrong, and Ryutetsu needed to address that as well, since he was not infallible and it wasn’t fair to Kainé to say otherwise. He would look over his shoulder at his friend before saying. “Yes dear.” The mischievous grin and wink would be a sure sign that he was teasing the blonde girl, which was a common thing between them. “In all seriousness though Kainé, you are correct. I should have made you aware of my plans and I apologise for not saying anything to you in regards to what I was intending to do.”
The gardens weren’t as populated as they normally were during the day, nothing out of the ordinary. ‘People are likely busier today.’ Ryutetsu thought to himself as he simply enjoyed the views that the gardens offered. It was a preferred spot for couples to spend time, which Kainé had commented on. "I guess if you have the option, this wouldn't be that bad of a dating spot. What do you think, Ryu?"
Ryutetsu didn’t say anything at first. It was a nice dating spot. He had spent a couple here himself with the odd girl. Nothing really came of those dates, but the Umikage still had hopes that he would find someone eventually. He would turn to face his friend. With a twinkle in his eye, he would proceed to look her up and down, almost as if he was appraising her. Without missing a beat, he would dramatically sigh before saying “I’m flattered, Kainé. We do spend a lot of time together already, not that I’m complaining or anything. Who am I to say no to you?” Finishing off his “inspection” with a smirk. He would likely pay for that the next time they sparred, but it would definitely be worth it.
Whether or not Kainé reacted to his antics, he would then proceed to ask her “Was there anywhere that you wished to visit while we are out?”

She rolled her eyes at his advances but at the same time she couldn't help but smile.
Kainé had cherished moments like these and was grateful for the relationship that she had with Ryutetsu. From the outside, they either seem like fire and ice or like thunder and lightning, but it was that ever-changing dynamic that made them so well made for each other. Perhaps she should lead him along? See where this interaction goes from here, even if it was going nowhere. Which would most likely happen since Kainé dreads a serious relationship, especially with someone who's so close to her.
"I wouldn't hold it against you if you did say no but I would definitely hold it against you." She chuckled as they continued to walk. The couple that Kainé had acknowledge earlier had not only closed the distance between them but had also taken notice to her and the Umikage. While there was nothing said, she did catch the male glancing at them. Oh the rumors that were going to spread by tomorrow. She let out a sigh before turning her attention back to Ryutetsu.
"I don't mind going out to eat, but since this is a date now, you're paying." She pauses a moment as she thinks. "I think I passed by that new seafood place that opened up recently in the Market District, you know the one one with the giant squid sign? They looked kinda interesting." This place was only in her memory because she had passed by it multiple times when in pursuit of Ryutetsu, and with every time she passed there was a different aroma.
"Oh, I saw you checking me out by the way. I'm going to get you back for that later." There was a playful glare donned on her face. While she was saying it in a joking tone, she was going to make him pay in one way or another. Honestly, she was probably gonna hit him when she had the chance.

Kainé rolled her eyes at him, which was the most common response he had encountered when he would tease her. At the same time, he had managed to get her to smile again, something he liked seeing on his friend’s face. "I wouldn't hold it against you if you did say no but I would definitely hold it against you." A sigh was also part of her response to his teasing, which elicited a laugh from the Umikage. She apparently had more to say on the subject "I don't mind going out to eat, but since this is a date now, you're paying." “I wouldn’t have it any other way.” Ryutetsu would respond, Still chuckling, during that brief pause between her comments. "I think I passed by that new seafood place that opened up recently in the Market District, you know the one one with the giant squid sign? They looked kinda interesting." He was surprised that she was going along with this, whether joking or not. While he had toyed with the idea in the past of taking her on a date, he wasn’t sure how she felt apart from them being close friends. At the end of the day, he was grateful that he had her as a friend, and would be loath to jeopardise that for the sake of potential romance. “Yes, I think I remember that particular establishment. I’ve heard good things about them and have been wanting to find out how good their food is.” With that being said, he would lead them back to the Market District to where the restaurant was.
Along the way, he heard Kainé say something else. "Oh, I saw you checking me out by the way. I'm going to get you back for that later." He turned back to look at her; She was glaring at him in a playful manner to which Ryutetsu would smirk at her. “I’d certainly hope you would have noticed, Kainé. I wasn’t being particularly subtle there.” Ryutetsu wasn’t a pervert by any stretch; he appreciated the female body, but was not one to act lecherous about it. Kainé was the sole exception to this. The primary reason was because of what good friends they are. While he had no issue with how she dressed or carried herself, he did find the topic one that provided plenty of ammunition for his teasing. Of course it didn’t always end well for him, but he definitely deserved anything he got for his good-natured ribbings.
They’d finally arrived at the restaurant. It was shortly after the lunch rush had ended, so there was no line and there were a few empty tables. Ryutetsu led Kainé to one of the tables and sat down, waiting for the hostess to come by.
