Clan History: The Uzumaki are one of the oldest and most powerful clans in the elemental nations, and just like the Senju and Uchiha clans are able to trace their lineage of Hagoromo Otsutsuki, the legendary Sage of the Six Paths. After their defeat at the hands of Kaguya both Hagoromo and Hamura were banished from her lands, and before long the two brothers split up and tried to make lives for themselves. Hagoromo wandered the world as a monk for a time, and after many years came up with a plan to get the people of the world to truly understand each other. This idea came in the form of a new religion, Ninshu, the teachings of which were meant to give people a better understanding of themselves and others, in the hopes of bringing an era of peace to the world.
He spread Ninshu by bestowing his own Chakra to the common people, and then teaching them how to use said chakra to connect their own spiritual energies with the energy of others, and thus grant them true understanding of the other person. For a time it seemed like his plan was working, as the religion itself seemed to be thriving while the crime rate in the lands surrounding Hagoromo’s were dropping. In this time of true peace Hagoromo wed and his wife gave birth to twin sons, Ashura and Indra, with Indra being the heir to Ninshu due to being born first by mere moments. As the two boys grew it was clear that Indra was the more skilled of the two, as while Ashura struggled to use his chakra in the simplest of ways Indra developed new and innovative uses for chakra. But Hagoromo cared not about which of the two was stronger, he cared about who he felt would lead Ninshu in the correct direction in the future
Eventually when his time had reached its end Hagoromo was forced to choose who would lead Ninshu forward in his stead, and to the surprise of everyone he chose Ashura. Indra was infuriated by his father's decision and renounced both Ashura and Ninshu as a whole, taking his own followers and leaving his father's lands. What happened to Indra after this point isn’t known to any of Ashura’s descendants, save that he had changed his name to Uchiha, but it is known that Ashura himself had two children, one by the name of Avalon and another by the name of Kuragari. By this point Ashura had left the name Otsutsuki behind to distance himself from his old family, instead taking for himself the name of Senju. Avalon was everything that his father was not, as right from the beginning it was clear that the boy was as skilled as his uncle Indra, but unlike him had the kindness and compassion of Ashura.
Kuragari was very similar to his elder brother in terms of skill, but due to the fact that he was the second born son was often overlooked and unappreciated by both his father and brother. It was this that led to Kuragari eventually following in the footsteps of Indra and leaving Ninshu behind, but unlike his uncle he stayed on good terms with both his brother and father. Later in life the man chose to settle in what would one day be known as Sea Country and took the name of Uzumaki. Kuragari had four children before he finally passed away, and just like Kuragari before them they chose to live their lives in isolation with their family in their homeland. The Uzumaki mostly stuck to the eastern islands, but it wasn’t all that uncommon to find some members living in the northern islands alongside the natives of the isle, the Yamanaka.
The clan, due to their isolation from the world, focussed more on Fuinjutsu than any other art, as they found that the art could be more useful than any other in improving their quality of life. Countless generations passed by in what seemed like the blink of an eye for the Uzumaki, who were more than content to simply ignore the rest of the world and live peacefully in their little slice of paradise. But the peace of the Uzumaki was shattered when the bloodthirsty Hoshigaki of the southern isles set their sights upon the rest of the country. The Inuzuka in the west were the first to fall to the might of the Hoshigaki, and to set an example the head of the Hoshigaki clan had the entire clan exiled from their ancestral homeland. The next to fall to the Hoshigaki were the Hozuki, a clan as savage and bloodthirsty as the Hoshigaki themselves. They, unlike the Inuzuka, were welcomed with open arms into the Hoshigaki ranks, and together the two clans were able to conquer the Yamanaka and the northern isles.
The Uzumaki were not fools, they understood well enough that even their mighty Fuinjutsu powered defenses couldn’t survive the combined offense of the Hoshigaki, Hozuki and Yamanaka clans. So they did the one thing that the enemy forces were not expecting, and simply surrendered before a battle could take place. In the end the Hoshigaki clan head, the conqueror of the isles, was named the first Umikage of the soon to be built Shimagakure. But despite the seemingly peaceful surrender of the Uzumaki clan they did not forgive nor forget how the village was formed, and as such most of the clan harbour a deep and bitter grudge against the Hozuki and Hoshigaki clans.
Clan Traits:
-Effect One: Fuinjutsu Inclined: The Uzumaki clan are both renowned and feared for their innate skills in the art of Fuinjutsu, and it is said by many that even an Uzumaki that chooses not to specialize primarily in Fuinjutsu can do things that would be beyond the reach of others. An Uzumaki that chooses to take this trait will be able to use Fuinjutsu up to 1 rank higher than their specialisation would usually allow (SS-ranks if Fuinjutsu is their Secondary, S-ranks if Fuinjutsu is a tertiary and B-ranks if they do not take Fuinjutsu as a specialty)
-Effect Two: Uzumaki Sealing Style: So skilled are the Uzumaki in their chosen art that they have long since developed their own unique style of Fuinjutsu, often denoted by the seal itself taking the form of the Uzumaki Clans symbol. An Uzumaki with this trait is able to enhance the power, speed or health of any S-rank or lower Fuinjutsu technique. This enhancement will increase the base power, speed or health to 1 rank higher than the rank of the technique itself for no additional chakra. Only 1 field (Power, Speed or Health) may be enhanced at any one time.
-Effect Three: Members of the Uzumaki clan who specialize primarily in the art of Fuinjutsu are known by all to be the foremost masters of the art. These Uzumaki Fuinjutsu Masters are so skilled in their chosen art that they possess the ability to completely bypass the handseals of any Fuinjutsu techniques that they know (excluding X-rank techniques). This ability does possess one rather large drawback, and that is that the costs of any techniques used in this way is increased. How much it is increased by is based upon its rank. Total costs for jutsu used this way can be found below.
E-rank = 2
D-rank = 5
C-rank = 10
B-rank = 15
A-rank = 20
S-rank = 30
SS-rank = 50
