Ryoka Hamasaki
Rank: B
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Appearance: At 5’6” and 120 lbs, Ryoka has an average body built with pale skin and curves on her hips. She has long black hair that then transitions into red highlights. Her hair is regularly left all out to rest on her shoulders and back, but she would sometimes stylize it into either twintails, a singular ponytail, or into a neat bun. Ryoka possesses green eyes, however her left eye was slashed open and had to get an eye transplant, so her left eye has a slightly lighter green than her right one. The difference may not be noticeable at first, but it does take a second look to realize. On the left side of her face on where her eye is, there’s a scar that starts from her eyebrows and ends just centimeters away from under her eye.
Ryoka wears a white short sleeved open chest shirt with golden trims where the chest area is and the edges of her shirt. Right on the bottom center and travels down to her stomach is red with red trims on the sleeves. She wears red arm cuffs with large circular golden bracelets worn on her wrists. She also wears another shirt of the same style except it is all black with black arm cuffs. She then wears black pants with a flame-like design in gold that runs down the right side of her thigh and black boots.

Bloodline: wip
Clan/Bloodline Traits: wip
Specialty: Ninjutsu
Element: Wind
Personality: Ryoka is a well-reserved woman who keeps her maturity in check and doesn’t act out. She keeps herself out of any sort of drama and trouble by staying to herself. She rarely spends time with anyone but herself. She doesn’t despise social activity and knows how to carry a conversation, but she prefers to be on her own when it comes to her own free time. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t have any loyalty when it comes to her village and the people in it. Ryoka, unless absolutely necessary, wouldn’t think to double cross someone. She gives respect only when she is returned the same favor or is with someone who is higher authority or rank, for example addressing the Sunakage. Doors are usually shut when it comes to getting to know more about Ryoka, but she has no problem opening up to those she truly trust, though trust is a rocky word to do.
People see her as a maternal figure despite her dull facial expressions shown 99% of the time. She cares deeply for those around her and can be extremely protective. She has compassion, but only gives it to those that genuinely deserves it and can understand to some degree to how people feel. Ryoka may not have gone through the same experience as a lot of people, but she can put herself in people’s shoes and envision their pain to understand where they’re coming from. Despite being seen as a maternal figure, she herself shields her emotions from the public and keeps it to herself. From her angle, she believes that showing too much emotion can be a sign of weakness. But it is possible to crack through her rather flinty image.
She is very keen when it comes to observations, having a sharp eye for little details which is an advantage when it comes to battle. Ryoka likes to study those around her, from body language to how they speak. To her, it gives her a clutch to see who people are and what they’re like. She’s not just smart when it comes to figuring people out and giving advice, but also with her words. Ryoka doesn’t deliberately get impertinent with people the majority of the time, but she can confess that her word choices can be interpreted as poor and disrespectful with how honest she can get. In her defense, she’d call it tough love for some people.
Ryoka may be calm the majority of the time, but it does not mean she can’t get angry. She just learned how to hide it. On the contrary, she does sometimes let it slip out on her face and get caught in the moment, becoming very intense with her word choices and using them as her daggers to stab. She also becomes more sharp tongued, being very critical with what she says. Every so often this can make her lose her cool, but that’s if she was driven over the edge. Her being critical can be done without her getting angry to either put someone in their place or play at their level of whatever mind tricks that are attempted to be done on her.
History: Ryoka was born where war ensued. Within the Sand Country was a village where political differences has caused conflict among its home, thus a war being resulted from how the village should operate. Ryoka was but a mere baby along with her brother of the same age, Gokudo, who were both with their parents to escape the wrath that the war has to offer when they were only four years old. They were no skilled shinobi, let alone combatists of any kind, who could defend themselves from riots and battles from even ordinary civilians. Luckily, her family managed to relocate from their old village to Sakyugakure where they were able to start a brand new life and a fresh page.
It was natural for Ryoka and her brother to adapt to the new life of Sakyugakure since most of her life would be spent here, but she couldn’t help but feel lonely. It was hard for her to make new friends ever since she arrived to Sakyugakure. The only friends that she had were her only family members, her closest one being her brother. Gokudo was the only kid at the same age Ryoka could ever have. They’ve shared multiple caring moments together where they would comfort each other and play about. It was a bond that was nearly inseparable between the two and nothing could get to them.
Until they’ve both reached the age to go to the academy. Gokudo was seen as the better sibling with his natural gift of performing basic jutsu perfectly. Ryoka wasn’t worse, but compared to her brother it looked like she was lacking. She was looked down upon by other students and even teased for her lacked abilities. Even if she did keep her head high and try to ignore the comments, Ryoka would always feel like she was going to cry.
As expected from Gokudo’s good hearted nature, he would stand up for his sister each time someone dared try to talk her down, but to her it only made things worse. She felt helpless whenever Gokudo would defend her and even made her more susceptible to harassment. Jealousy and anger fumed from Ryoka when she swore to become the better sibling and surpass Gokudo. This caused a rivalry between the two, losing their once to be claimed unbreakable bond, something that Gokudo did not want but knew that Ryoka would never get over.
Gokudo was promoted to a Genin with little to no effort while Ryoka, on the other hand, barely made it but has been promoted as well at thirteen. To Ryoka’s dismay, she was placed in the same team with her brother and another Genin, Ryushi, that favored Gokudo on his abilities, and who was also a close friend of his. This did put Ryoka at a disadvantage, but she was thankful that she was with a sensei, Rukia, who had a neutral view of her team no matter how good or lacking a young shinobi was.
Despite the Jounin’s views of keeping things neutral, the cruelty reality pulled upon Ryoka as she was the worst. Truthfully it was an exaggeration of her skills, but in her eyes she saw herself as the worst compared to her other teammates. She was the underdog of the team and Ryoka wasn’t going to stand around and watch her team do the rest of the heavy work. Everyday she would try to train by herself whenever she had the chance. She would practice her speed, stamina, strength, everything to be the better Genin out of her team. Unfortunately, no matter how many days or weeks she trained, there was little improvement of her overall abilities.
That was until her sensei, Rukia, stepped in and have decided to train with Ryoka. She admired the Genin’s determination and will power to become stronger out of the rest of the team. Ryoka initially didn’t want her sensei’s help due to not just her stubborn nature, but also because she felt like she would be ridiculed for getting help when she should be getting stronger by herself. It took her awhile to remove such a mindset, but she was more than welcomed and willing to receive some training from her sensei.
Since her training with Rukia, Ryoka’s skills have vastly improved through various missions. She became quicker and more fluid in her movements, stronger in not just muscles but mentality, and being able to take hits. Praises were given to her by both her sensei and teammate Ryushi, but Gokudo only watched in silence as he felt rage generating inside of him. He was then beginning to feel how Ryoka felt. He was only and always been seen as the stronger sibling and it looked like Ryoka was about to surpass him. His pride gave him enough fuel to do whatever he could to prevent that from happening.
As the Chunin Exams approached, Ryoka and her brother alike both have defeated countless opponents along with Ryushi. Some said Ryoka had definitely improved and was even the stronger siblings while others would disagree that Gokudo was still the better one. Despite the whispers and murmurs of who was better, it didn’t take away the bigger picture that she and her brother were both promoted to Chunin.
Being a Chunin meant exploring new horizons for Ryoka and opportunities to help improve her feats. She had decided to pursue Taijutsu as her secondary specialty, a specialty she has quickly grown used to. Her body used as a secondary weapon (next to Ninjutsu and was favored over Weaponry) was an intriguing concept for her and would learn how to implement Ninjutsu into her Taijutsu. She has also learned a second element, lightning, which was the second component needed to obtain her clan’s advanced element, neon. All she needed now was to learn to combine these two elements to actually posses neon.
Like her Genin year, Ryoka was paired up with her brother and Ryushi. She and Gokudo would bicker often, yet they’ve made sure not to let their bickering cost them their missions. They both knew better than to get petty with each other and ruin their missions, but that didn’t entirely stopped them from doing so. They had some moments where their lives were nearly taken from simplistic disagreements that grew into heated arguments.
On one of their missions of rescuing Ryushi due to being captured from their previous mission, her and Gokudo engaged in combat with three enemy shinobi. Gokudo took on one while Ryoka took on two. Gokudo was able to take down the one he was up against while Ryoka struggled to keep up from being overpowered. Her brother had the choice to jump in, but instead he decided to cripple Ryoka with a simple yet quick sling of the kunai to her left leg from behind, forcing her to kneel and receive a direct slash on her left eye from one of the enemy shinobi. Already covered in scars and some blood, her body collapsed onto the ground but still had conscience. That was when Gokudo swooped in and took the opportunity of the enemies focusing their attention on Ryoka to flawlessly take them out.
After Ryushi was rescued, Ryoka had to be hospitalized to get her back to stable condition and was given an eye transplant. Gokudo claimed that the shinobi he was fighting launched the kunai right into her leg, but Ryoka didn’t believe his excuse. That was the moment Ryoka knew she had to officially cut her ties with her brother that almost got her killed. Sadly injustice was then given to her when Gokudo was summoned in the Sunakage’s office to be promoted as a Jounin at eighteen, leaving Ryoka in the dust. Her pride was destroyed when her brother managed to jump one rank while Ryoka had no choice but to continue doing her duties for the village for the Sunakage to notice.
Ryoka didn’t get the same treatment as her brother as she only became a Special Jounin at twenty with her skills not being up to a Jounin level. While she took the cruel fact reality gave her with a grain of salt, Ryoka accepted her unfortunate promotion and has decided to become an academy teacher for the rest of her life. She may not have been the greatest compared to her brother, but at least her power vastly improved since she was an academy student.
But after three years, Ryoka didn’t know what she was getting into when she was suddenly summoned by the third Sunakage...

RP Sample: The desert was extremely hot during the day and somewhat tolerable during dusk. With the moon fully risen into the sky and letting its light shine in the desert, there was no doubt the Sand Country’s temperatures have dropped drastically from its usual scorching temperatures when the sun is out. Ryoka wore her usual outfit with a black mask covering her nose and mouth and a cloak of the same color and a hoodie over her head to shield part of her hair. The only features that could be made out was her face, specifically her green eyes and the scar on her left eye. In her left hand was a dagger and her right hand held a more longer bladed weapon. A katana, to be exact.
A shinobi, for whatever reason, went rogue and it was up to her to track him down. It was clear from the Sunakage that those who dare abandon the village won’t do so alive. It was up to her to track him down and take him out, beheading him from his corpse as proof that she killed the missing-nin. It was a rather… cruel way of showing evidence, but Ryoka wouldn’t bother trying to question the Sunakage’s ethics and morality. After all, her word was the law.
With both weapons out and ready to attack, Ryoka quietly snooped around the inside of the abandoned building just a few miles away from Sakyugakure, which where she would only assume that the rogue shinobi have camped about until he could make his next move on where to go. Ryoka wasn’t actually sure on if her assumptions were true, but it was worth checking out. The building was made out of sandstone, but the amount of shattered walls, broke floors, and ruined structures within the building was more than plentiful.
The building had a total of four floors, to which she already searched two of them. On the third floor, Ryoka watched every step she took to make sure she wouldn’t make as much sound as possible and not fall through a crooked hole. Her eyes scanned the perimeters as they took in every single detail despite the darkness crippling her eyesight. It may have been dark, but she was still able to make out some features that were engulfed in the shadows.
She stopped in front of a doorway that introduced a room with nothing but damaged items such as desks, chairs, and what seemed to be a figure lying down with their backs faced to the doorway who was near one of the ruined desks. The figure had bright blue hair and seemed to have an average build. If she recalled correctly, her rogue nin was Mazusaki Tanaka who had bright blue hair and an average build. Based on the description, Ryoka knew this was her guy. If not, then it was worth a try.
Ryoka tiptoed to the slumbered figure from behind as she rose her katana over her head, prepared to strike the man right through his temple. As she wasted no time, she slammed the tip of the blade through the man’s neck in a matter of seconds. She expected to kill the rogue in one thrust, but the moment the blade made contact with the neck, smoke emerged from the figure as it disappeared within the cloud. Ryoka’s eyes widen as she realized that this was a clone, which meant that Mazusaki had been expecting someone to come after him. Which meant…
“Ha, got you now!” A voice yelled from behind.
Immediately, Ryoka held her katana horizontally and leveled her hand that held the hilt up to her chest whilst she turned around. She slashed her blade forward as she got a direct hit on the man who ran up to Ryoka right on his chest. After he stumbled back from the impact of the slash, she gave a vertical slash down his shoulder and then gave a stab right on the center of his chest with her dagger.
The man’s body fell onto the ground the moment when his heart was stabbed through with the dagger still in tact with his chest. Ryoka approached the man’s corpse and kneeled to get a better angle of beheading him from him body.
“Not much of a fight… but at least it was quick.” Ryoka muttered under her breath.
