Mission Name: Gathering Prospects
Mission Rank: C
Mission Summary: Chusekigakure, being such a small village, does not house the entirety of several of its most prominent clans. You have been assigned a child who has shown promise with their clan's bloodline - go pick them up and escort them back to the village so their aptitude can be properly tested. The kid will usually be between the ages of 6 and 12, and be of the Kaguya, Uchiha, or Yuki clans (they may also be of other Chuseki clans, but as of the time of writing those are the choices). Threats on the mission include the tricky nature of navigating in and around Chuseki proper, any criminal elements in the countryside, and very occasionally the duplicity of the families themselves...
NPCs: --
Village: Chusekigakure
Location: [Dragontooth Karsts] - This mission can lead to any of the clan compounds or other towns and cities in the greater Mountain Country, from the valley meadows the Kaguya's historical estates call home, the rough stony fjords north of Chuseki, or the windswept fisheries of the northwest coastline.
Requirements: --
Repeats: Yes
Rewards: 15xp, 1500 ryo

Two messenger pigeons leave Chusekigakure's aviary with the same mission. They have the most local deliveries of their peers, but their job isn't as easy as it should be - the pillar village was swept overnight by a foot of snow and ice. Now only stray snowflakes drift through the air, melting against the portly grey-feathered birds' wings as they seek their prizes.
One pigeon bears a slightly heavier scroll than the other. He arcs in towards one of the karsts sturdy enough to hold housing, aiming for the familiar round windows of this pillar's chuunin barracks. With a heavy flutter of wings he lands in the heavy snow of the sill, struggling for a moment to find his footing, seeming from the outside like a strange hole in the snow - if not for his insistent pecking at the window!
"Oh -- OH! No, get out of the cold!" Nobuko leaps away from the egg frying on the stove towards the window, scrambling towards the latch and HEAVING it open! Snow tumbles down the rocks and a chilly pigeon flutters inside into the warmth of Nobuko's room, trailing snow behind him as he struts about on the floor. Nobuko winces at the sharp bite of the wind and pushes the window shut. She wipes her forehead of a few snowflakes and crouches down, her messenger cooing with relief.
"Do I know you, buddy?" Nobuko scoops him up, gingerly unlatching the message scroll from his belly and setting it aside. She lifts him to read the little identification tag on his foot as he peeks around and coos lowly. "Ohh, hello there Ouji! Well met!"
His mission complete, Ouji is content to warm up, occasionally chancing a curious peck at the edge of Nobuko's plate while she reads her mission. Ooh, this one's a bit of a trek... Nobuko knits her dotted eyebrows in thought, anticipatory dread curdling in her gut.
It's exciting that she'd been assigned a genin to bring along, but did this mission really have to be quite so... political? She's relieved that it's not a mission to Hakkinkawa, at least, but...
Umeko's scroll details a C-ranked mission assigned to her and a Nobuko Kaguya (a dubiously familiar name, given the chuunin's involuntary lapse of service). Their task is to travel to one of the Kaguya Clan estates in the central Wildflower Province of the country, a few days' trek, to pick up the young Koki - an eight year old who's shown a disposition for the clan's bloodline.
The scroll sets the leaving date for the next day. Later that morning, Umeko will receive another message by pigeon, this time from Nobuko herself - an enthusiastic, messy scrawl in red ink, letting the genin know that they should meet at 8:30am sharp in front of the Sanraku Grocery. "Please bring adequate camping supplies, but don't worry about rations!"
