You've done well today, I expect you to continue doing well. You may have the rest of the day to yourself, but be careful who you choose to associate yourself with.
Umeko gave a small nod as the rich voice of her father spoke to her in it's usual commanding tone. She knew exactly what he meant with his last comment, but she wouldn't dare say anything in response to it. The village was divided, it was a quiet divide but everyone knew that the four main clans of Chusekigakure were at odds with one another. It was rare to see any member from the Yuki clan around a Akimichi or a Kaguya. Umeko was too young to understand what the tension was about between the clans, but then again all she needed to do was obey her parents and elders. It had been a long morning for the pint sized Yuki, as she had spent most of it training with her father in order to gain her Ice element. Everyone had hopped that she would have gotten it before gaining D rank, but it seemed that it was too much for her to grasp.
Umeko counted herself lucky, her family didn't come down too hard on her for not meeting expectations. In fact they encouraged her to train harder, helping her every step of the way. Not wanting to disappoint them, she trained even when she was suppose to be resting. There were rare moments when she could actually enjoy the day, but today would not be one of them. Umeko was now alone in the backyard of their family's home. Snow covered the large open area, coming up to about her ankles while more of it fell from the sky in thick, fluffy, flakes. The cold of the snow didn't bother her at all, a wonderful little gift of being born into the Yuki clan. Making her way out of the backyard and away from the Yuki clan's complex, she made sure to inform her brothers on her way out that she would be going down towards the training area of the village in case her presence was ever needed. Communication was valued in her household so she always respect the wishes of her parents in letting at least on family member know where she would be if she was not going to be home.
I should start small. Something easily managed.
Her words came out soft, barely a whisper which was lost on the winds. While she walked towards her destination she started to gather charka into her hand, attempting to thin it out and sharpen it, a image of a blade in her mind as she did so. From her studies she learned that most offensive wind techniques are built this way from. She figured that is she could grasp the basic charka motions she would be able to crack it and build on from there, but for whatever reason it just wasn't coming together as easily. This would be easier with some help. Father made it look far easier than it is, then again he's had years of experience. Her thoughts echoed through her mind but she never let up what she was doing. With her tiny hand out the swirling blue chakra began to grown thinner, and thinner, until she could almost see the wispy distortions around it.
A feeling of pride welled up inside of her chest as she stopped walking. Had she done it? Did she finally get the basic form down? Ah it would seem that way, all her hard work was paying off, but it was short lived as she made the mistake of relaxing her charka for only a moment. In an instant the charka in her hand fizzled out and she was back to square one. Disappointment washed over her but she wouldn't let it stop her. The only way one could ever hope to succeed was to never give up, and that's what she planned on doing. With a moment to herself Umeko looked around, only to realize she had finally made it to the training grounds. Although it was covered in snow now up to her calves, the young Yuki didn't mind it and in fact saw this was a chance to have a little fun. Gathering up some snow in her delicate hands she began to mold and shape it. Since no one was currently around Umeko woudln't have to worry about bothering anyone, or anyone bothering her for that matter.
